2025 OPENING RACE SUCCESS FOR RYDE

This weekend saw OMG Nitrous Competitions Racing head to Cheshire’s stunning Oulton Park for the first round of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike season. With blue skies & perfect temperatures, an overwhelming number of fans took to the rolling hills & trackside banks, eager to catch all the action.

As Kyle’s first race weekend running the coveted #1 plate, attendees were vying for photos & signatures with the reigning Champion. Thanks to the team at Nitrous Competitions, who brought more than 20 cars & bikes that they currently have available to win to their enormous stand, Kyle was able to spend more than an hour across both days with thousands of followers.

The weekend also gave those in the paddock the opportunity to see the new look OMG Nitrous Competition Racing truck & garage boarding, thanks to the team at Brandfixx. Numerous conversations were had over the weekend around the genius simplicity of their modular system, which reduces both cost & time significantly when compared to traditional wrapping.

Kyle had good pre-season tests on the 2025 R1 at Donington Park and Oulton Park, and the new-look team went into Saturday’s Free Practice feeling positive.

Despite an electrical fault cutting FP1 short, Kyle’s combined times across both sessions saw a 1:33.851, set in FP2, putting him P4 overall and straight into Q2 for Sunday’s Qualifying session, a good start for the season.

On Sunday, Kyle led the way in Qualifying with a 1:33.233 before pushed down to a P2 by Brad Ray in the closing minutes, seeing a front-row start for the Number 1 plated Yamaha R1.

Race One – 18 Laps

Making a good start, Kyle was in the mix amongst the leading group, whilst former teammate Bradley Ray made a break for it. The majority of the race saw Kyle battling hard with Irwin, Haslam and Stacey, eventually crossing the line P5.

Race 2 – Monday Sprint race – 12 Laps

Kyle and the team had made some changes overnight, and he would start in P7, based off his lap time in Race 1. A great start would see him immediately up to P5, chasing down Irwin and Stacey. Taking his time, and with Irwin and Stacey riding defensively ahead, Kyle would make a great overtake on Lap Three, taking both of them and moving into P3.
Irwin then broke away from Stacey, passing Kyle into P3, followed by Stacey regained the P4 from Kyle. The reigning Champion would keep a cool head despite pressure from the Yamaha of Kent behind, catching the BMW of Stacey to beat him to the line by 0.070 and P4 at the close.

Race 3

Due to the tragic deaths of Owen Jenner (21) & Shane Richardson (29) in the preceding Quattro Group British Supersport Race, the third Bennetts British Superbike race of the weekend was cancelled.

OMG Nitrous Competitions Racing would like to acknowledge the work done by all the marshals, medics, and trackside staff in dealing with the horrendous incident. We would also like to extend our thoughts to the friends, family, and teams of both riders.

In light of the above, the team will be making no quotes this round.
